To provide extensive nomenclatural, taxonomic, and specimen information to the project based on the large collection of Solanum specimens and literature at NYBG. Contribution of taxonomic treatments, especially of species in the Brevantherum and Leptostemonum clades. Participate in field and herbarium work and provide expertise about Solanum species of Bolivia, Mexico, and Belize. A graduate student will receive training here in all aspects of the project. NYBG will serve as the focal point for visits by international collaborators.

Background: 

(Ph.D. University of Wisconsin, 1979) A Curator at the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), he is an authority on the systematics of Solanaceae, Cucurbitaceae, and other groups as well as on the floras of Bolivia, Mexico, and Belize.
